Information About Oxy- acetylene Welding:
My heat source is a combination of oxygen and acetetylene which gives me a working temperature range of up to 6500 degrees fahrenheit. I use three methods to put together the various parts I combine into a sculpture. I braze with bronze, which acts as a glue to join parts together. Occassionally I use the bronze as a free-form medium to enhance a particular piece I'm sculpting. I weld the parts together with steel rods which, again, acts as the glue which holds the parts together. Lastly, I melt the pieces together directly (direct welding). I combine found metal objects, stock metal parts straight off the shelf of any hardware store and odds and ends from every imaginable source including cut nails found during construction renovations, collections of skeleton keys from yard sales and older metal kitchen utensils from thrift shops.
