Simie Maryles Gallery represents traditional art by contemporary
artists. The gallery exhibits paintings and sculpture by a small
select group of artists very thoughtfully chosen for the compelling quality
of their work as well as their respect for excellent craftsmanship. The
works include oil paintings, pastels, mixed media, drawings, glass, ceramic
and metal sculpture, and limited edition and open edition prints.
The painting styles range from impressionistic to painterly realist to
classical, the scupture styles from graceful traditional to unusual imaginative
to humorous and very unusual.
Situated in Provincetown on the tip of Cape Cod, MA, Simie Maryles Gallery
is located in the East End of town in the heart of the gallery district
in this community long known for its famous art colony and generally colorful
and Bohemian flair. The gallery's owners/directors are husband and
wife, Moe Van Dereck, sculptor and Simie Maryles, painter.
Although Provincetown is well known as a summer resort town, Simie
Maryles Gallery is open all year, 11 to 11 daily in summer, gradually
mellowing down to weekends all winter, and then lengthening hours again
through the spring. The gallery hosts a number of group and individual
exhibitions throughout the summer, promising riveting new works, refreshments
and lively conversation with a fascinating mix of art collectors, art appreciators
and artists. Openings are on Friday evenings, a Provincetown
gallery tradition. Visitors to the gallery in winter will always
find wonderful new works as well as good music, mulled cider and cookies.
